Ever since Jack can remember, his mom has been unpredictable, sometimes loving and fun, other times caught in a whirlwind of energy and "spinning" wildly until it’s over. But Jack never thought his mom would take off during the night and leave him at a campground in Acadia National Park, with no way to reach her and barely enough money for food. Any other kid would report his mom gone, but Jack knows by now that he needs to figure things out for himself - starting with how to get from the backwoods of Maine to his home in Boston before DSS catches on. With nothing but a small toy elephant to keep him company, Jack begins the long journey south, a journey that will test his wits and his loyalties - and his trust that he may be part of a larger herd after all.

I loved this book so much , I recommend you read it. So now I’ll tell you about it,it’s about a boy named jack who’s mom left him and went to the Bahamas and never came. Then he was by himself in Maine, so he surrenders for himself but he’s not alone, he “stole” a baby elephant, and carries it around with him in hard times. When jack was with his mom he always wanted to go see Lydia the elephant, but she always said no.Plus his mom thought elephant were being used. His grandma was always there for him because his mom was mentally crazy. Let’s get to chase, he went on an adventures line and then had a happy ending.

Small as an elephant is a great book. If you read it,
your emotions would be all over the place. Jack is only eleven years old, his mom is kind of a nut. One day they went to a camp and his mom left him there, he had to go on a crazy adventure to get home. He went from Acadia National Park to Boston. The book is 275 pages, and its really worth reading.

I loved small as an elephant. Its about a boy named jack who gets stranded in maine by his OWN MOM. Why would she do that? Its because she has a mental disorder that makes her act like a nut. She had probably not been thinking about jack and left him.(they had gotten in a fight the night before.) so poor jack has no food. He went to go to a store and realized he had no money.( it was in a library or a gift shop i should say). So first he goes on yhe computer and tries messaging his mom. No answer. So he goes to the gift shop he sees a plastic elephant and again realizes he has no money and he just takes it and runs for dear life. He hold it in his hands at hard times. Like when he ” stole” food from mrs. Olson. She said that if he brought food to the farmers market he could have a whole bag of food. Turns out he took both bags of food. And if you want to know more than read small as an elephant by Jennifer Richard Jacobson. Please read the book. Oh by the way this book may contain parts that are sad and not just oh i feel bad for them sad. A sad you feel when something or someone dies. :)

So far for my new book (Small an Elephant) I have read to the part when Jake wakes up at the campsite and his mother is gone. It was very odd because he remembered her going into her tent. It was also mysterious because everything was gone. The car, the table they set up, and her tent. I really hope that he finds his mother before it is to late

Jack wanted to buy a baby toy elephant because he loves elephants, but he didn’t have enough money to buy it. So Jack stuffed the elephant into his jacket and ran out the door. People were calling his name and telling him to stop, but Jack didn’t stop. He kept running until he thought he no one would find him. He stopped and rested. Then he kept walking and when he looked back he saw the police and heard the sirens. So Jack ran as far as he could, then he found the library and he stayed their because he thought he would be safe and so he could try to contact his mother.
